Backyard Beekeeper
That’s me – April, backyard beekeeper. Look how clean and new my suit is! This was my first year of keeping, and one of my best hives, Susan Bee Anthony.
Thanks to generous Kickstarter backers, the Bitches Bee Crazy Apiary started in 2018 with three hives:
- Federación del Sol, Queen Tejas
- Beeverly Hills, Queen Luca Perry
- Susan Bee Anthony
The apiary’s grown since then, sometimes as high as 13 hives (springtime when I’m raising hives to sell), but I’ve always kept my three starter hives. They’re usually my best honey producers, and you’ll find their names listed on the honey you buy.
I love my bees and almost everything about beekeeping, from building equipment, to raising nucs, to harvesting honey. Harvesting lots and lots of honey. So much honey.

No doubt in my mind that my ladies make the best honey you will ever taste. Store bought honey might as well be water in comparison. If the pantheon of Greek gods had had my honey, they’d have ignored that ambrosia crap and feasted on Bitches Bee Crazy nectar.
